OUR TRIP TO CORNWALL AND THEO'S FIRST HOLIDAY

We're back!! Well we were back on Friday but it's taken me all weekend to wash all the holiday clothes and everything. It's hard to believe that such a tiny little person takes up so much room in a suitcase! I loved having some time away at the seaside and Theo's Dad got to spend some quality time with Theo for probably the first time since Paternity Leave. So here you go, a peak into our first little family holiday.

We dropped Archie off - I really wanted to take him with us as Cornwall is super dog friendly but I just couldnt stomach the 6 hour drive with a fussy baby and a fussy dog...I would of gone insane! - our 320 mile journey to Cornwall. Theo was a superstar! His first big car journey and he didn't really seem too fussed, although I did spend more than half the journey in the back with him. I packed him with lots of toys and wacked CBeebies on the Ipad to give him something more exciting to look at for a little bit.

We finally arrived at our little caravan at around 4pm - we left at 8am... such a loooong journey!
We were stay at The Park in a lovely little village called Mawgan Porth. I opted for the cheapest caravan as maternity pay is a little restricting but was pleasantly surprised how lovely it was. They even left you a little carton of milk, sugar and tea/coffee which I thought was brilliant...especially after said long drive. They practically provide you with everything from washing up liquid to an ironing board! The have an onsite cafe/restaurant so we opted for a takeaway meal on our first night which was super scrummy. The Park is also really child and dog friendly so we met various couples with babies and toddlers over the week we were there.

Our first day was a little bit cloudy and after the mamouth drive the day before we just wanted to chill out a little bit so we went for a (slightly windy) stroll along the beach and hills. I also had a mega cold so just wanted to curl up in bed - and did for a good few hours! The beach was only a 5 minute walk from our caravan and there were various walks you could follow around the seaside. We bought some yummy homemade scones, jam and clotted cream from the village store and enjoyed our own homemade cream tea back at the caravan.

The next day we called in at the local pub/restaurant called The Merrymoor Inn for a carvery - It was Sunday after all! I managed to swindle 2 yorkshire puddings and eating a roast next to the beach was perfect...I could seriously get used to that every Sunday! We then headed back to our park to bask in the surprise sunshine by the outdoor pool. Crazy as it felt sitting there in my Special K style swimming costume the outdoor pool was a little bit of a sun trap and it felt amazing.

On the Monday we ventured out of our little village to The Eden Project but I think that really deserves it's own post so I'll leave that for a minute.

We decided to take a trip to Newquay on the Tuesday and gave Theo his first experience of sand! We also visited a little aquarium which was really fascinating for Theo - however if you do go don't go in the week! It was full of school trips and was hard to maneuver with a pushchair! I bought a couple of beautiful pictures from an art shop - isn't that standard when you go to the seaside!? - and then we headed back for the first proper afternoon in the pool. His floaty is by Zoggs and was bought off Amazon and definitely saved my arms from holding him.

On Wednesday we took a day trip to Falmouth and took a ride on the Ride and Float which was brilliant - apart from getting the pushchair on and off, that was nerve wracking! We had a walk around and stopped at a fish and chip shop with a view of the harbour.

On our last day we decided to have a beach day paddling in the rockpools and sunbathing. However after a few hours Theo got a tad grumpy with all the sand blowing around so we headed back to the outdoor pool and then back to the caravan for showers ready for our last night meal out. If you've ever tried to get sand and suncream out of your babies hair you will realised how long this actually takes! That night we went to a lovely local restaurant called The Catch which served beautiful food. We then headed back via the beach ready to pack up the car for the morning.

All in all our first little trip wasn't too shabby although Theo was mega grumpy for some of it but there were lots of new things to take in so I think I'll let him off. Hopefully we've made lots of memories that we can show him and maybe relive when he's a little bit older.

I'd definitely recommend where we stayed for a little family get away with mini people. Especially when your mini people aren't really old enough to enjoy the joys of places like Butlins/Centre Parcs etc.
